Ilyushin 86 in a soviet AEROFLOT livery. Avaliable in 1:72 and 1:100 scales.

Ilyushin-86 – the first Soviet wide-body airliner. There were built 106 aicrafts.

This is one of the safest aircraft in the world.

When operating the Ilyushin-86 in flight accidents not a single passenger was killed!

Of course, many dreamed to collect a paper model of this famous aircraft. But there was little choice.

Only the one papercraft of Ilyushin-86 was published in the №12 UT magazine in 1982.
P.Chernov and E.Chernov developed a simple model in scale 1/200.

There are several vector repaint and improvements to this model, such as the Soviet Aeroflot livery (author A.Bobkov).

Other designers have tried several times to create a more detailed carton model IL-86, but to no avail.

And in December 2013 the designer Denis Lichachoff started creating 3D paper model of IL-86 on a scale of 1/72.

Denis became famous after creating wonderful paper model aircraft Yak-42D, which I helped to paint in the Soviet Aeroflot livery.

It was decided to continue our work together on a project of Ilyushin-86.

The painting of the fuselage’s nose sections and its test assembly made by Andrei Chistyakov.

Pretty quickly was created 3D model.

Then started the test assembly unpainted model.

It has fully complied by Denis Lichachoff.

Nose and main landing gear have a high degree of detail.

Denis Lichachoff chose a rare method of manufacturing a wheel:

successive winding several narrow strips.

Andrei Chistyakov assembled the painted nose sections of the fuselage. The left side view.

The right side view.

During the test assemblies were found and fixed some errors in the original drawings.

Coloring parts process long, but in September 2014 was successfully completed.

Parts are available in A4 format. Total items (excluding joint strips) – 575 pcs.

Below are some preview pages with the parts.

The manual for building the model finished too.

Preview cover and some pages of manual:

The preparatory phase of the project paper model of IL-86 is finished.

  • Hello Dear Friends. Could you please help me? I’m from Mexico and I don’t speak Russian. Could you please indicate me which is the software used to open and to show images with parts for the model IL 86 in 1/72 scale? Thank you very much for your kindness. I love Russia!

  • Друзья снова я приветствую вас. Я просто PDF файлов IL 86, в котором agradesco масштабе 1/72 бесконечно. Сердечная благодарность. Из Мексики Carlos Ballesteros

  • Oh hello kav 61, I’m so sorry for not answering sooner. Thank you my dear friend! It is really funny indeed. I was pleeding for such a model to come to me. Now that I have it, I’m terrified because it is so beautiful and so well designed that I’m thinking how to start it. Through the years, I’ve done many plastic scale models, about 250 or so, perhaps a bit more. But this is the very first time with such a beauty. I know that it is very simple to print another “spare” and that’s set, but anyway, I’m afraid this to result somehow a Loch Ness abortion LOL . Get sure I will upload those pics anyway. thank you kav61 for the kindness!!!!
It is indeed exciting to have a Russian friend. друг!
Whenever you’d like to come to Mexico, you have a place to stay at! then we will have lots of time to talk about aircraft. I’m commercial pilot. Are you close or related to aviation too? OK kav 61 until next! You can see me in FB also under the name Charlie Crossbow. Hope you contact me. Приветствую братьев красивой России !!!!

    Hello Carlos!
Thank You so much for nice words and inviting to Mexico! May be in the the future I’ll see You in Mexico!
If You’ll ever come in Moscow please welcome too – I live not so far from Sheremetyevo (SVO) airport.
Unfortunately I didn’t work in aviation. I dreamed to be a flight navigator as my father, but I didn’t passed health test. My father worked about 30 years as a flight navigator on Ilyushin-14, Ilyushin-18, Ilyushin-62 and Tupolev-154. When I was a child I often cruised with him sitting in the cockpit. I remember these incredible flights.
    I’m sorry I didn’t find You in FB :(
My friend Denis Likhachev (he designed the Ilyushin-86 paper model) and I (Andrey Klochko) have also FB accounts, please welcome:
